Nick Addison took 4th Place at 170-pounds, matching the highest placement for a Rumson wrestler at the State Tournament. He finished the season with 42 wins, a new single season high at Rumson. Freshman Max Brignola had his season come to an end in the 2nd round of the wrestlebacks. He ends the year with a program record 37 wins for a freshman.

Nick Addison finished 2nd at 170, and Max Brignola took 3rd at 126, as the pair punched their tickets to the State Tournament in Atlantic City. Liam Horan finished in 5th place at 182, and will serve as an alternate and would replace anyone from the Region is weight in the event they withdraw from the tournament.

One of the youngest teams in the Shore, Rumson enters the 2018 season without a returning senior starter in the lineup. It is, however, not a team without experience, as ten starters from last season's team are back, and the group of freshmen come in well-prepared from the feeder program and putting the time in the clubs.

The big name returning for Rumson is junior Nick Addison, a 2-time Region qualifier with 55 career wins, who became the program's first District champion since 2014 a season ago. Addison is part of an upper half of the lineup that could be filled entirely by returning starters, including Liam Horan, who won 21 bouts as a freshman, and 16-match winner Joe Afflitto. In addition to the starters, newcomers Mike Taylor, Peter Crowley, and Von Factor provide depth, and give coach Bryan Heller the ability to make some moves in the lineup.

Down low, Mike Ponenti and Tristan Izzo are back and coming off solid rookie years that saw them win 22 and 16 bouts respectively. A third starter also returns in junior Jack Dey, while very promising newcomers Jack Kelly, and Max and Tyler Brignola look to make an immediate impact.

While this a very young team, the work level and enthusiasm in the room are high. This is a team that is putting in the work that they need to in order to achieve big things on the mat. There are some tough dates on the schedule, including A-Central foes Raritan and St John Vianney, as well as non-divisional matches with Middletown North, Ocean, Lacey, Brick, and Colts Neck, among others, that will serve the lineup well come tournament time. There are also a good amount of matches with programs of similar size where the Bulldogs should be racking up the wins. While Addison is the obvious name to look for big things in the post-season and the SCT, there are a few guys here more than capable of making strong post-season runs along with him.
