With a mixture of proven talent, an improved group of youngsters, and a solid incoming freshmen class, things are looking up for a Rumson program on the rise.

The two big names returning are the Addison brothers, Theo and Nick, who both capped solid seasons last year by winning medals at the Districts and punching tickets to the Regions. Theo, a senior, will be looked at provide veteran leadership in what should be an otherwise very young group. Sophomores Evan Davis and Joe Afflito will be looking to take the next step after getting valuable experience in as freshmen. It's always tough to jump right into the upper half of the lineup as a frosh going against mostly upperclassmen, so don't be surprised if these two have a quick turnaround with a full year under their belts.

After a terrific freshman year, Nick Addison is on the verge of being a breakout star for the Bulldogs. He picked up 26 wins and finished 3rd in District 22, and should be in the hunt for a trip to AC in March. He's joined in the middle by senior Coleman Gould, a 4-year starter that will help provide veteran leadership.

There is a very young group of lowerweights here, and the Bulldogs will be hoping for immediate contributions from their promising group of incoming freshmen. It would be impossible to do this without mentioning the name that jumps off the screen at you at 106, Skove! Rumson is hoping for good things out of their combination at 106 in Miles Skove and Tristan Kelly. Jack Dey, who won 11 bouts as a frosh, is back and looking to take it to the next level in 2017.

While Rumson has had some individuals achieve success on the mat over the last several years, dual wins have been tough to come by. Their six wins last year was their most since 2012. They had some close calls last year that could have gone either way, so the figuring is that with an improved lineup, that has a nice mix of proven winners, experience, and promising newcomers, the Bulldogs can reverse some of those close calls from a year ago and ramp up the win totals. This will be an interesting team to watch, especially later on as the new faces get their varsity time in, but you can't help but things are looking way up for the Bulldogs, especially with a solid coaching staff led by Bryan Heller and assistant Billy George.
